ORO-MEDONTE, ON – Around noon on Friday, emergency crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire on the railroad tracks on Line 8 North between Horseshoe Valley Rd. and Warminster Sideroad.

When crews arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed and has since been deemed a total loss.

According to the Oro-Medonte fire services, crews struggled with a constant water supply, stating that they had to run hoses down the railroad tracks to a water resource to successfully extinguish the flames.

The Oro-Medonte fire services requested a hold on the active Canadian Pacific Kansas City rail line in the area, resulting in trains being halted from passing through the area.

Propane tanks were also discovered in the vehicle and were a cause for concern for firefighters.

Reports state that the burned-out vehicle may be in connection to a shooting in Penetanguishene that has claimed the life of one victim, however at the time of publication, this report has been not confirmed.
